Sports Law - Swiss Law
The International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and numerous other sports federations and international sports organizations have headquarters in Switzerland, nearby the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS/CAS).
Most International Federations are associations in accordance with art. 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code (SR 210).
The Procedural Rules of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS/CAS) state that in the absence of law chosen by the parties, the Panel shall decide according to Swiss Law (R45).
CAS awards can, on a very limited number of grounds, be appealed to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court (art. 77 Federal Supreme Court Act; SR 173.110).
